Do you even.. Nah that's corny. Although weight lifting takes more of a back seat now, it still gives me great joy and is a stable component of my life.
It started some time ago. When I was young(er), doing push- and sit-ups at home. Wanting to go to the gym, but never actually went.
When I moved out, the pull got stronger and I got a gym membership. My first gym was dominated by bodybuilders, and that's how I rolled into that paradigm.
Somewhere along the line the gym closed and I quit exercising for some time. Since I still ate quite some and wanted to remain big, I decided to do some simple workouts at home. It felt good doing some physical exercise again.
During my first year at the university however, this had kind of faded out. One day I was chilling in the sun, and realized I had gotten a bit flappy. Thus I resolved to find a new gym.
The gym I registered to after that, was near to my house. This was a nice change of pace, since the first gym was a 20 minute bike ride from home.
The crowd at this gym was more varied, not only ethnically, but also as far as training routines. There were a lot of power lifters too.
The training there was good and I built a good physique. Alas, a winter came.
After some time of finding myself, and my way in life, I decided to go to the gym again. This one was also a walk away.
If anything, regular training dominated in this gym. For the most part I've kept to my bodybuilding paradigm. However, this was the gym were I experimented with power lifting, and started doing cardio and stretching.
In the long run doing cardio (before workouts) drained my energy, so that gradually moved out of the gym. It always struck me as odd to walk or cycle in the gym.
After some time I wanted to see a new gym, so I closed my membership, and started orienting.
The last gym I went too was fun, since there was a lot of activity. However, I never really found my place there.
Once Corona came around I started training at home again. This felt quite good, so I've been doing that ever since.
Recently I've been training outside some more, sometimes in the Ericatuin, and others in local outside gyms. This is a fun way to switch things up.
